When I started looking for an open-source alternative, FreeScout immediately turned out to be a very solid system that was also incredibly easy to install. There are a few benefits to self-hosting FreeScout that might not be immediately obvious. Of course, there are economic advantages… There are also legal advantages: all the data is on your premises. No need to tell users that you’re using a third-party service for support interactions. I think the biggest benefit for us as a company is the liberty to create more users and inboxes when we need them and not be bound by very restrictive account limitations or prohibitive costs. I’ll call this one a win. I hope it inspires companies to do the same.

I evaluated a lot of ticket systems for us both hosted and SaaS. FreeScout is just what I was looking for and it seems to hold up to our internal testing. The added modules are well worth the price if you decide you need their features and are relatively easy to deploy. The community around the app is also active enough on their GitHub page, so if you are struggling, it won’t feel like you are the only one using the app. For what it costs and can do, I will forever recommend Free Scout…

If you need a help desk that you can self-host then FreeScout is one of the best you can use. It has almost all the features that you can expect from a Zendesk alternative. You just host it somewhere and then start using it. I really liked its interface and the features that it offers. The push notifications are nice and you can have unlimited mailboxes here and assign them to any user you want. So, if you are looking for a free Zendesk ot HelpScout alternative then you are at the right place.

Great tool, great code, great style. We were looking for a free and self-hosted email management tool for a long time and found FreeScout only now. It is a pleasure to work with the unobtrusive yet powerful user interface. This seems to be unique in a market of bloated, old-fashioned or overdone, social media focused and overpriced services, hosted on someone else’s systems. Prices for the modules are ridiculous compared to the great added value.

FreeScout is an open source app written in PHP. It took less than an hour for us to download FreeScout and have it running on our own servers. We’ve been very happy with our move to FreeScout. The product is extremely solid. The developer is very responsive and handles many issues in public on Github. If you are a web design agency and take customer support tickets, I’d seriously consider FreeScout. Yes, it does require a little setup and maintenance. But overall, FreeScout an affordable and reliable alternative to some of the high-priced, closed-source platforms.

One aspect of Freescout which we appreciate very much coming from a very top heavy and overbuilt system is how light Freescout is on server and browser resources. Freescout is the only open source helpdesk written in PHP and simple enough to administer for a small business. The other open source solutions are either hideous and ugly or so overwrought that installing and maintaining a working install would almost require hiring another server admin with specialised knowledge.

Very surprised to discover this one! I used to use Help Scout when it was free and very existed by this open source project. This is only great open source alternative for HelpScout. Using this for events and collaboration between teams for small projects. Indeed its very good option compared to paid services if you want to keep an archive of your data forever and prevent data access by service provider.
